British Values permeate our curriculum and our aim is to teach these holistically, within our curriculum, as well as providing opportunities to explore British Values in greater depth. 'Excellence in Who We Are' is a key part of our vision and we encourage all members of our school community to be 'courageous advocates' and live out these values in all that they are and do.

The Key Values are:

• democracy
• rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect
• tolerance of those of different faiths

You will see British values being promoted in many different ways at St Peter's including: 

• An RE curriculum that teaches about the beliefs and practices of all major religions and includes visits to Mosques and Hindu Temples
• An in-depth study of democracy for our year 5 children (including a visit to Parliament)  and an opportunity for every child, every year, to take part in a democratic election process within our school context
• Legacy learning projects, in each year group, give an opportunity to learn about, and experience, British values in more depth
• A rich PSHE curriculum where children can explore, question and develop their understanding of these values and what they mean to them as members of the school and wider local and global community
• A challenging study of the World Wars, in year 6, and an opportunity to look at times when British Values have been tested
• An elected school council who represent the views and opinions of their peers and contribute to decision making in school
